RL 565 Overview

This course focuses on the role of the upper elementary/middle/secondary school teacher in developing readers and writers who are becoming more advanced literacy learners. Students will learn about comprehension theory, research and development, as well as specific strategies for comprehension instruction. Other topics explored in this course include the development and instruction of writing, as well as an exploration of children’s and young adult literature.
