Biography
Dr. Janice E. Jones joined the Cardinal Stritch faculty in 2006. She has a Ph.D. in Urban Education with a specialization in Counseling Psychology and a minor in Multicultural Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Before coming to Stritch, Dr. Jones worked for many years with people diagnosed with mental illness and people with substance abuse disorders. She completed three years predoctoral work and one-year post-doctoral work at the Medical College of Wisconsin, serving patients who came to the clinic through psychiatric crisis services in Milwaukee County. She also completed a two-year post-doctoral program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health.
Dr. Jones teaches research in the Doctoral Studies department and advises students on their dissertation research. Her research interests include children in out of home care, attachment issues and improving education.
Dr. Jones serves on the board of Kids Matter Inc. and is also a court-appointed special advocate for youth in foster care. She serves as the Interim Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Bias, Identity and Diversities in Education.
