Marc R. Barbeau was appointed Stritch’s Vice President for Institutional Advancement and External Relations on September 1, 2020.
“With more than two decades of higher education leadership and fundraising experience, Marc’s passion for advancing mission is contagious,” said Stritch Interim President Dr. Dan Scholz. “He is a proven leader who will ensure generations of students will have the opportunity to benefit from a Stritch education and build upon our University’s proud legacy. Marc’s strategic insight will help cultivate a culture of philanthropy that will support our Catholic, Franciscan mission.”
Barbeau is Stritch’s Chief Advancement Officer with the primary focus of increasing philanthropic giving and enhancing the understanding of how the University’s Franciscan values shape its mission. He oversees the design and implementation of a comprehensive institutional advancement and external relations program, while developing and fostering collaborative relationships with key internal and external partners who will help the University achieve its goals and priorities.
He is responsible for donor identification and cultivation, the Stritch Fund, major gifts, planned giving, endowment funds, stewardship, capital campaigns, alumni relations, corporate and foundation relations and additional advancement services. Barbeau will expand the University’s governmental relations on the local, state and federal levels. He will implement a coordinated, strategic outreach program designed to achieve advancement institutional objectives through a comprehensive array of communications and marketing initiatives.

Prior to joining Stritch’s senior leadership team Barbeau served as Vice President at Ter Molen Watkins & Brandt (TW&B), a Chicago-based fundraising consulting firm. TW&B’s clients include numerous national nonprofit organizations, including members of the Association of Franciscan Colleges and Universities. He served as TW&B's lead counsel for several higher education institutions, including Neumann University, Viterbo University, Princeton Theological Seminary, and most recently Cardinal Stritch University. Throughout his career Barbeau has served as Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Silver Lake College, Lake Erie College and Northland College. He also held senior advancement positions at Carroll University and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
“After working as a consultant with the Stritch leadership team during the last several months, I accepted the opportunity offered by Dr. Scholz, knowing that it was fully supported and encouraged by the Board of Trustees,” said Barbeau. “I am proud to serve and partner with Dr. Scholz and the Stritch family as we lead and create a climate in which the entire university community can work together to address ever-changing opportunities and turn them into remarkable successes.”
Barbeau earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Carroll University (Waukesha, Wis.) and a master's degree in management and organizational development from Silver Lake College (Manitowoc, Wis.).
