Biography
Mary Beth Wisniewski, M.S. LPC, is the Associate Director of the Health and Wellness Center, which comprises our Student Health Clinic and Counseling Services. She is one of the mental health counselors in Counseling Services. Mary Beth has a Master of Science in Educational Psychology and over 10 years’ experience facilitating personal growth counseling and workshops. Her clinical experience includes four years at a mental health hospital providing group counseling in Residential, Partial and Inpatient settings for individuals working through substance abuse, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, trauma and other issues. As a psychotherapist at Stritch, Mary Beth counsels individuals, and facilitates workshops on mindfulness, stress relief, managing change, personality assessment and self-advocacy. Mary Beth uses a strengths-based approach which acknowledges the wisdom, gifts, knowledge and holistic health that reside within each person. She believes counseling is a shared journey which begins with understanding and making meaning of each person’s unique life experience. Change occurs as individuals respond and act from this inner wisdom, identifying goals, healthy choices and relationships, strengths and support. With a certificate in Trauma Counseling, Mary Beth provides trauma informed care focusing on creating a safe and healthy environment, working through the challenges of coping with and integrating memories and experience, and collaborating in a process of healing and growth.
