Two-time Stritch alumnus named national Superintendent of the Year


Joe Sanfelippo, '05, '12, has been named the national Superintendent of the Year by Education Dive, which provides in-depth journalism and insight into the most impactful news and trends shaping K-12 and higher education.

Sanfelippo was recognized for his approach, which "doesn't just promote the wins that occur between school walls to the broader community: It builds a culture that celebrates students and staff at all levels of the organization and extends a helping hand when needed."

Sanfelippo earned a master of science degree in Educational Leadership from Stritch in 2005 and a Ph.D. in Leadership, Learning and Service from the University is 2012.

Prior to being named superintendent of the Fall Creek (Wis.) School District, Sanfelippo taught in kindergarten, second grade and fifth grade classrooms. He also served as a school counselor, high school coach and elementary school principal.
