Stritch women's, men's soccer teams competed in NAIA National Championships


Cardinal Stritch University's women's and men's soccer teams participated in their respective 2022 NAIA Championships.
Head coach Jamie Bladen’s women’s squad dropped a 2-0 decision to Central Methodist in Columbia, Mo., on Nov. 17. It was the fourth appearance in the NAIA Championship in the program’s history.
The women's team earned an automatic berth after capturing the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Championship (CCAC) with a 1-0 overtime win over Olivet Nazarene behind a first-half penalty kick from CCAC Player of the Year Mari Sagstad. The Wolves finished with a 17-3-1 overall record and an 11-1-1 CCAC mark. The Wolves entered the national championship tournament with a 10-game winning streak.
The men’s team, also coached by Jamie Bladen, fell 1-0 at Missouri Valley on Nov. 17. The Wolves made their sixth appearance in the NAIA Championship in school history. Coach Bladen’s team was the runner-up in the CCAC regular season and conference tournament and registered a 14-6-1 overall record and 9-2-1 record in conference games.
